Once the running bug hit me, I became borderline addicted to racing. 5k, 10k, 8k, half marathon, marathon, trail, road, ultra, etc I didn’t care. Get me an entry & let me race! Then 2016 rolled around, and I went from four full marathons in five weeks, to “I have NYC Marathon in November.”
Following our move from Las Vegas, to the Pacific Northwest, I only had the Crater Lake & TCS New York City Marathons on tap for the foreseeable future. There were a very small handful of local races that could have been entered. Not wanting to risk illness in one of them, I figured I would focus on trying to train for the upcoming races.
Now, I am back in the same situation.
Only one race pre-registered, and it is nearly a full year away.
What am I supposed to do? I love to race. The social aspect of running embodied, with some added motivation to push myself toward the finish.
So, while I am not writing race reports multiple times a month, I’ll have to find something new to write about.
Any ideas?
I am thinking about these possibilities:
- Prescott area trails
- Focused training
- More gear reviews
- … Ideas?
